WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?
What is dermaplaning ?
Dermaplaning is a luxury, pain free facial treatment that uses an exfoliating blade to skim dead skin cells and hair from your face. It’s also called microplaning or blading.
Dermaplaning can be used for almost any skin type and is great for anyone with acne scars, dull skin, dry skin, sun-damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles It’s also used to remove “peach fuzz,” the short, soft hairs on your face.
The only clients that would be wise to find an alternative treatment, would be those with extremely sensitive skins like Roseacea sufferers and those with active acne.
The benefits of Dermaplaning

Your make up will sit better on your skin

-
Encourages cell turnover- great for slowing down the ageing process!
How often should I have a Dermaplaning treatment?
Ideally, every 4 weeks.
Will Dermaplaning cause breakouts?
Quite the opposite, actually. Dermaplaning removes dull, dead skin cells.
The dead skin cells can clog your pores and hair follicles, this causes pimples and blocks your skin care products from penetrating the skin to do their job.
This is why exfoliation is essential for maintaining an even, healthy glow for your skin.
Is there any downtime after a treatment?
Some light redness can be expected but this doesn’t always happen. It’s perfectly fine and common for clients to make an appointment during their lunch break and go right back to work afterwards.
Can you wear make up afterwards?
We advise you to avoid using make up for 24 hours after your treatment. This is so that the skin has chance to settle down as the skins barrier is more open and may become irritated with make up.
After 24 hours, you can apply as much make up as you like.
Will Dermaplaning make my skin more sensitive to the sun?
Post – exfoliation, your skin will be more susceptible to the sun, so, if you don’t take sun protection seriously, then now is the time!
Use a gentle sunscreen of at least SPF 30, however, this should be regular practice anyway as part of your daily skin care regime.
Will my hairs grow back thicker?
No! This is a myth. The hairs on the face are grown from hair follicles that produce soft, velours hairs and are different from those follicles on your head or legs, for example.
The facial follicles will always produce soft, velours hairs and a dermaplaning treatment will not change this.
Once your hair begins to grow back, it might feel different because the hair was cut straight across, but, it’s actually the same texture and thickness it was before and it will grow at the same speed.
What is the cost of a Dermaplaning treatment?
An express treatment is £50 and is around 40 minutes long. This includes a cleanse and the treatment itself followed by a soothing finishing cream.
An advanced dermaplaning treatment is £60 and you should allow 1hr 10mins.
Because the skin is at its most receptive following a dermaplaning treatment, this is the best time to apply advanced masks and active serums.
Our skin care specialist will choose one that best suits your needs and this will be applied at the end of the treatment before the finishing cream.
